Therapeutic Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a therapy modality that uses sound waves to affect tissues. It can provide two different types of stimulation. The first is a deep-heating effect, useful for promoting blood flow in areas of chronic pain or relaxing muscle spasm. The other is a mechanical effect that helps break down scar tissue or adhesions, which has been shown effective in the treatment of overuse injuries such as tendinitis.
Therapeuric ultrasound may be effective for:
- Tentinitis, including Tennis Elbow, Golfer's Elbow, Achilles' Tendinitis and Plantar Fasciitis
- Relief of muscle spasm
- Increasing blood flow
